"Everyone needs a coach," says Google CEO, Eric Schmidt. Schmidt recounts that the best advice he'd ever got was, "Have and executive coach".

A peaceful mind guides my steps. !!!

A peaceful mind paves the path that lies before me. Everything becomes easier when I calm my thoughts. I try my best. I feel at ease when I know I am contributing as much as I can. Sometimes I succeed in the short run. Sometimes the outcomes fall short of what I hope for, but I know that my efforts are still worthwhile.

I let go of worries.

Anxiety makes me less productive. I focus on the positive side of things. If my car is making a funny noise, I wait to see what the mechanic has to say rather than imagining everything that could go wrong. I take steps to manage daily stress. My days include time for meditation or exercise. I listen to soft music or get a massage.

I practice forgiveness.

When I pardon others, I take a weight off my own mind. I am happy to see my distant relatives instead of harping on a comment they made about my career at dinner one year.

I trust in my abilities.

Thinking about how I handled difficult situations in the past reinforces my confidence. I know how to prepare for a traffic jam or a tight deadline. Mindfulness pervades my actions. I focus on the present moment. I decline to dwell on the past or dread the future. I enjoy washing my hair or buying my groceries. Today, I clear my mind. I make room for peaceful thoughts. They are an excellent companion.

An Outsider’s Perspective

1. How do I create peaceful feelings when I am under stress?

2. How can I sustain a sense of calm for longer periods of time?

3. What are some additional benefits of maintaining a peaceful mind?

A Plan to Take Back Control of Your Life

When life isn’t going your way, do you empower yourself to make improvements? Most people are great at getting themselves worked up into a state that’s anything but empowering. When things get challenging, we need all of our resources if we’re really going to turn things around. We all have the power to overcome our negative thinking and emotions. And we all have the power to bring about positive change in our lives.

Try these tips to regain some control over your life:

1.Be assertive. Many of us are simply too passive to ever accomplish anything significant. Sometimes you have to declare what you want. Sometimes you have to say ‘no’ to others. You don’t have to be selfish, but there’s nothing wrong with making a decision and then making it happen.

2.Make a list of your 10 greatest strengths. Now think of ways that you can leverage them to your advantage. If you’re going to take back control of your life quickly, you’ll probably need your strengths to accomplish it.

3.It’s also worthwhile to think about your 10 greatest weaknesses. These are commonly the things that get us into trouble. What you can do to reduce the impact of your weaknesses?

4.Stop making excuses. Excuses limit you and prevent you from taking charge of the situation. If you can take responsibility, you can change the situation.Excuses give you a justification for being passive. If you believe that something is outside of your control, you also believe that you can’t do anything to change it.

5.Get more sleep. Most people simply don’t sleep enough to be at their best.Studies have shown that most people experience improved mood, clarity of thought, and increased energy if they increase their sleep by one hour per night.Turn off the TV and go to bed an hour earlier.

6.Do the most important things first. Spend the first hour or two each morning on the most important tasks you have for the day. Your focus and energy will be at their greatest.

7.Decide which area of your life would have the greatest impact if improved.Focus on the one area of your life that will make the biggest difference. If you’re already making Rs 1 Crore a year, making more money probably isn’t going to have a great impact on your life.

8.Forget about expectations. The whole world seems to tell us what we should be doing. What would you do if you were free of all of those expectations? Choose for yourself for a change.

9.Figure out what’s holding you back. Why aren’t you already living your life the way you choose? What’s preventing you? What are you afraid of? What can you do to work around these challenges? Develop a plan to get past this resistance.

10.Make the necessary changes. After all of the above steps, you know what you need to do. It’s time to do what needs to be done. Take action.

Few things are as fulfilling as having full control over your life. You’ll feel like there’s nothing you can’t do. The world is just sitting there, patiently waiting for you to take control of your life. Get started today by taking the first steps. A few steps each day become quite significant very quickly.

Discover the Purpose of Your Life

If you’re like most people, you might not have figured out what you’re supposed to do with your life. What is your purpose? What is a life purpose anyway? For our uses, we’re going to define it as something that you love to do that also has a great impact on the world. It’s that sweet spot where you’re having a great time and doing something wonderful for as many people as possible.

Most of us leave our lives up to chance. We slide into a profession that we don’t hate and stay there or in a similar situation until we’re ready to retire. Living your purpose usually requires taking action with the intention of finding it.

There are several ways you can attempt to discover the purpose of your life:

1. Describe your ideal day. Project yourself several years into the future and imagine that your life is essentially perfect. What would your life look like? Are you working? What type of work are you doing? What do you do all day? Who is in your life? Now that you know what the end looks like, what can you do today to take the first step in that direction?

2. Try austerity. Go camping in a remote place. Leave the food at home, but bring plenty of water. Limit your sleep and just sit with yourself. When you’re miserable, bored, lonely, and tired, sometimes the answers become obvious.

3. Volunteer. Find an organization in your community that interests you. Doing something worthwhile can be a good way to discover your purpose. Even if you come up short, at least you’ll have done something important.

4. Assume you can do the impossible. When anything is possible, what would you do? Take action to bring your dreams to life.

5. Write. Perhaps the most effective way to discover your life’s purpose is to spend an hour writing. At the top of your paper write, “My life’s purpose.” Now spend the next 60 minutes writing whatever pops into your mind. When you find something that stirs strong positive feelings within you, you’re probably on the right track.

6. Investigate a new hobby. We all have at least one activity we’ve been putting off until a more convenient time. Doing something new exposes you to new ideas and thoughts. Now is the time to jump in and get started. You might be surprised what you discover.

7. Do something that terrifies you. Skydiving? Public speaking? You might find your life’s purpose during the process of conquering this fear. This can be challenging and it might take some time, but get started today.

8. Spend a day being totally inspired. From the time you wake up until the time you go to bed, attempt to spend every moment inspired. The right books, music, and movies can help you maintain an inspired mental state. You’ll believe you can do anything. What would you do?

9. Ask yourself what you would do if you had Rs 10 Crore. How would you spend your time? What would your life look like? Can you figure out a way to make a living doing one of the activities you would be willing to do for free if you had the time?

Keep trying the above tips until you’ve found something that really excites you. When you find your purpose, there will be no doubt. Avoid spending all of your life thinking and planning. Get busy living.Finding your life’s purpose will make life exciting and meaningful!

Purpose of your career in your life

All of us must have seen these 3 choices when we fill any application forms from the mundane to the important ones like income tax, home loan etc. We are also aware of the implication of each choice. Most of us are left wishing that they had that choice whereby he would be in the less taxed bracket. 20 years back these options would have read Business, Housewife and Service respectively. But has anyone pondered what is really the difference between the 3 options? I suspect. It is obvious these choices are given for easy basketing of individuals for the various databases used in organizations & countries for their administrative, political and economic activities.

But there is a deeper meaning behind this classification which is very personal. The purpose behind taking these options are typically different, at the least at the beginning. Notwithstanding goals; what separates the three is the purpose (stated or otherwise). For a moment let us imagine there is no financial or other implication if we tick any of these three. What should a full time politician tick? An NGO owner is doing what? All government servants are? CEO of any company is? What truly differentiates is the attitude with which this is done. Take a profession of Doctors or Nurses. Their job is inherently one of service, though experience may be to the contrary. The degree may vary but all of us are finally serving society and that is what the third option means.

So then it is a good idea to ponder …….Are you doing your job, occupation, employment, hobby and profession, work …………with an attitude of service??? (In Sanskrit it is called SevaBhavana). If you could do even partially, it should help you become aware of and then subsequently identify what is the purpose of your career in your life??? If not, the option ‘service’ has no meaning. To understand the real impact of SevaBhavana is to be at a customer service helpdesk or an office reception. The gap between aperson doing his job and a personactually providing service has been experienced by all of us to fully comprehend the impact of the difference. When we experience really good service, we may compliment the organisation. But we perceive that the individual has that attitude inherently and his nature which gave us that experience.
